Anne Marie Taberdo

Hello, my name is Anne Marie and I'm a sculptor. Since 2008 I have been based in London, UK and Sydney, Australia but now currently reside in North Carolina, USA where I call home with my husband and son. I am a traditionally trained sculptor but I found myself venturing into a very unique world of ephemeral art which has taken me on projects around the world.  In 2012, I developed my ice carving skills over three years as the former Head Sculptor of The Icebox in London. Since then, I have worked alongside many ice sculpting companies in the UK, Australia, and most recently the US, including Okamoto Studio in NYC and Artisan Ice Sculptures here in NC.

I have had the opportunity throughout my career to sculpt and create in a wide array of materials including bronze, wood, fiberglass, clay, sand and snow. I’ve worked in set building in Sydney, museum replication at the British Museum and Madame Tussaud’s in London and film & TV in the UK and US.

Sculpting has become a kind of second nature to me and my endeavours into and acceptance of all its glory, wonder and struggle not only helps bring out the best in my practice but also in who I am. I wasn't born with a chisel and chainsaw in my hands but I am the makings of two incredibly crafty people: a florist and a jack of all trades, who have been clear influences in my voyage into art and sculpture.

Whether it’s ice, sand, snow, replications or permanent public art, I am always welcoming new commissions and interesting collaborations. I continually seek to build upon my experiences and I am a firm believer that learning should NEVER cease.
